Scholarships

Applications for Department of Art and Art History scholarships are available in Rm. 150 Community Arts Bldg. and 2148 Old Main.  To qualify for the awards below, students must also file for general student financial aid through the Office of Financial Aid, located in the Welcome Center.

Albert and Peggy DeSalle Scholarship Fund (Metal Arts or Photography)
 
Full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students with at least a sophomore standing majoring in the metal arts or photography, or a closely related field

Marji Kunz Memorial Scholarship Fund (Fashion Design & Merchandising)
 
Any student at sophomore level or above in the Department of Art & Art History who displays an aptitude in creative design, display work, writing, fashion retailing or modeling

Sylvia Marciniak Annual Scholarship in Art

Full or part-time undergraduate students with declared major in drawing or painting and at least one semester of course work in drawing or painting.  Applicant must demonstrate financial need. 

Minimum of $2,500 per academic year.  Renewable each year as long as recipient remains eligible and reapplies.  Applicant must submit slides and application for consideration of this scholarship. 
Albert L. and Alice W. Steinbach Scholarship Fund (Art History, Graduate Level)
 
Any graduate student in the Department of Art & Art History specializing in art history and interested in teaching and scholarship in that area

Linda Marlene Iden Endowed Scholarship (Fine Arts)
 
Undergraduate pursuing a program in the fine arts

Evidence of accomplishment in the arts is required, and financial need is considered.

Wilfred C. Becker Memorial Scholarship
 
Open to any high school senior recipient of a Scholastic Art Award sponsored by the Scholastic Art Association.

The Steinbach Scholarship was established by private donors to recognize outstanding scholarship and scholastic achievement and to support and encourage students specializing in art history in the Department of Art and Art History. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, potential to make professional contributions to teaching and scholarship in the field of art history and financial need. Awards may be used to defray the costs of travel or other expenses associated with the pursuit of specific research projects in the field of art history.

To apply, submit a letter stating your academic goals and objectives, describing a specific research project and telling how the award would help you to pursue the project. The letter of application should be accompanied by (1) a copy of your transcript, (2) a budget for your project and (3) the names and addresses of three academic references who have agreed to provide letters on your behalf. Please ask your referees to send their letters of reference directly to:
