New ceramic exhibit featuring Joe Zajac begins tonight

Detroit's Pewabic Pottery will open an exhibit tonight featuring the work of ceramic artist Joe Zajac, well-known on the Michigan ceramics scene and a ceramics professor at Wayne State University. Zajac's latest work features flat, tile-like ceramic pieces in bright colors with a contemporary look. Zajac is the associate chair of the ceramics department at Wayne State. His exhibit, which kicks off with a reception from 6-8 p.m. tonight, runs through May 26.

WSU professor featured in exhibit at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit
Pewabic Pottery is kicking off a two-month exhibit showcasing the work of Joe Zajac, a renowned ceramic artist and professor at Wayne State University. The opening reception, 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, is free and open to the public. Zajac’s new work features flat, tilelike ceramic pieces with surfaces that evoke the automobile in their perfection of surface, as well as the flash of contemporary jewelry and color-block clothing. Zajac, one of Michigan’s more accomplished ceramic artists, is an associate department chair and professor of ceramics at Wayne State.
