Brian Kritzman, professor of industrial design at Wayne State University, commented in a piece examining the work and impact of Detroit Manufacturing designer Robert Stanzler, who created the logo of a worker carrying a wrench that would symbolize “Made In Detroit.” Kritzman said Stanzler’s work incited a sense of unity. “I think what Robert did is… in the nineties when Detroit was really starting to have a hard time he hit a cord that gave citizens of Detroit a sense of pride and I think it not only resonated with the actual residents of the city but certainly the greater Detroit community,” Kritzman said.
