In a Black History Month feature on the significance of women's hairstyles in African American culture, Wayne State art professor Bill Gaskins spoke with reporter Andrea Isom. Gaskins is WSU's Elaine L. Jacob Endowed Chair in the Visual Arts and created the 1997 photography book Good and Bad Hair, from Rutgers University Press, celebrating contemporary black hairstyles as an expression of a rich, multifaceted culture.
