Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, professor of photography and director at the Center for the Humanities, University of Rhode Island, will speak about her work Between Cultures.

Please join us in this overview of her photographic deep diving into political, social and transformative issues stemming from her own experience of living between three cultures. This free lecture open to the public is sponsored by the DeSalle Fund in the photography program of WSU's James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History.

Annu Palakunnathu Matthew's recent exhibitions include Sepia International, New York City, the RISD Museum, Newark Art Museum, 2009 Guangzhou Biennial of Photography, China, Tang Museum and the Smithsonian Institute and Museum of National History.

Among the list of grants recently supporting Matthew's work are a 2012 Fulbright Fellowship, the John Gutmann Fellowship, MacColl Johnson Fellowship, Rhode Island State Council of the Arts Fellowship and the American Institute of Indian Studies Creative Arts fellowship.
