Art Prof. Abt authors book about James Henry Breasted...

Wall Street Journal

“From Illinois to Mesopotamia”

by John Ray

Wall Street Journal review finds the latest book by Prof. Jeffrey Abt, American Egyptologist: The Life of James Henry Breasted and the Creation of His Oriental Institute, to be “an authoritative account of Breasted’s varied life,” concluding that “Mr. Abt’s biography is almost encyclopedic, but the narrative is always visible amid the detail, and footnotes and references are used wisely. It is unlikely that the story of this restless scholar will need to be written again.”
