Program description
What is this program?
The Interdisciplinary Electronic Arts program combines the elements of fine arts and design through the use of computers in art and art practice. This program provides career training for teachers, artists, designers and producers of interactive multimedia. Completion of the program, which includes a mandatory internship, can lead to a career in such areas as video production, hypermedia development, CD-ROM production, university and corporate media center management. Rather than viewing emerging new media and computer-based art practices as a self-contained discipline, the Interdisciplinary Electronic Arts / Digital Arts area engages with the extraordinary and far-reaching technical and philosophical challenges posed by digital technologies. Working across heterogeneous and hybridized emerging art forms, including digital imaging, video, audio, installation, online and physical interactive systems, students will navigate and develop working strategies and practices that both supplement and question traditional modes of expression and representation.
