Ready to Graduate

Friday September 28 is the last day to apply for graduation for the Fall 2007 Semester. 

 Through Pipeline on the student tab you will click on "Apply for Degree or Certificate."

On-Site Advising

Have you been in to see the University Advisor yet this year?  If not and you have class in the Old Main Building try to take advantage of the On-Site Advising Days.  

These dates will be for October 8 and 9 from 1-4 pm  in the Art and Art History satellite office on the 3rd floor Room 3139 (outside the painting studios.)

A university advisor will be there to do general education audits and assist in the declaration of major process.

Students are asked to bring a copy of their transcripts.

The exhibition, related symposium and other activities, and commission of the newly created sculpture by Tyree Guyton are made possible by the 2007 Joyce Award.  The purchase of Tyree Guyton's new sculpture, Invisible Doors, was made possible by donors to Wayne State University with added support from the College of Fine , Performing and Communication Arts.

 

 

Faculty Highlight

Mel Rosas, Professor of Painting and Drawing has been included in the Autumn 2007 edition of The Gettysburg Review as the feature artist.  The review highlights 9 of his recent works with a corresponding article entitled, "Portals and Palimpsests:  The Enigmatic Paintings of Mel Rosas," written by Molly S. Hutton.

UAL Juried Exhibitions

Friday, September 28th 5 – 8pm at West Hancock Gallery, 480 W. Hancock, Old Main , WSU Campus

West Hancock Gallery is proud to present the first Undergraduate Art League (UAL) Juried Exhibition, displaying works by 26 former and current Wayne State University art students. Juried by Adrian Hatfield and Alana Bartol, the exhibition includes works in metals, photography, installation, performance, mixed-media, painting, sculpture, and graphic design. The featured artists are: Melissa Boyle, Rory Chapman, Angelo Conti, Richard Edwards, Corey Egan, Jennifer Elliott, Katie Etchil, Clare Fox, Kelly Kaatz, Nicholas McGinnis, Justin Marshall, David Parker, Neal Owen Parks, Bethany Patterson, Jennifer A. Paull, Matt Pawenski, Chad Riley, Matthew Scarlett, Lynn Spanke, Daniel Sperry, Christina Spivak, Rebecca Vogel, Stephanie Yaklin, Adam Yarbrough, Sarah Zagacki, and Andrea Zarzycki.

The UAL Juried Exhibition will be held for ONE EVENING ONLY in conjunction with the opening of 'Street Sense: Celebrating 20 Years of> the Heidelberg Project' in the Elaine L Jacobs Gallery .

The UAL is a new student-run organization dedicated to creating opportunities for its members, fostering a sense of community among students, and increasing the visibility of the Wayne State art program. The winner of the UAL logo design contest will be announced during the opening.

West Hancock Gallery was created through a performance piece initiated by two graduate students at WSU. The gallery (also known as 'The Bud') is a student-run gallery that is dedicated to presenting and promoting the work of local emerging artists and students at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Wayne State University .
