We are accepting applications for all Departmental Scholarships  through the online submission form for currently enrolled students in the Art and Art History Department until April 5, 2016.  See the listing below for criteria of eligibility for each individual scholarship.

2017-18 incoming transfer students

We accepted James Pearson Duffy Transfer Student Scholarship applications until February 26, 2017.

2017 incoming freshmen

We accepted Talent Scholarship applications until January 15, 2017. 

High School Students in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb County (Grades 10-12)

We accept entries for the Tri-County High School Art Exhibition 2017 until February 20, 2017.

Scholarships

Talent Scholarship Fund (Studio Arts)
Eligibility Any Michigan high school senior planning to specialize in a studio art area
Amount Award of approximately half tuition per academic year (fall and winter terms) Renewable each year for a total of four years of baccalaureate study

James Pearson Duffy Transfer Student Scholarship Fund (Studio Arts)
Eligibility Any incoming transfer student whose chosen major of study is art, art history or design and merchandising.
Amount Award of $4000 per academic year (fall and winter terms) Renewable for one additional year of baccalaureate study

Wilfred C. Becker Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility Any Michigan high school senior planning to specialize in a studio art area
Amount $1500, renewable each year for a total of four years of baccalaureate study

Albert and Peggy DeSalle Scholarship Fund
(Metal Arts or Photography)
Eligibility Full or part-time undergraduate or graduate students with at least a sophomore standing majoring in the metal arts or photography, or a closely related field
Amount Amount varies depending on funds available

John and Irene Sowinksi Scholarship Fund
Eligibility At least sophomore class standing majoring in art. Financial need may be a part of the selection process

Marji Kunz Memorial Scholarship Fund
(Fashion Design & Merchandising)
Eligibility Any student at sophomore level or above in the Department of Art & Art History who displays an aptitude in creative design, display work, writing, fashion retailing or modeling. A presentation to a selection committee is required

Sylvia Marciniak Annual Scholarship in Art
Eligibility Full or part-time undergraduate students with declared major in drawing or painting and at least one semester of course work in drawing or painting. Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Albert L. and Alice W. Steinbach Scholarship Fund
(Art History, Graduate Level)
Eligibility Any graduate student in the Department of Art & Art History specializing in art history and interested in teaching and scholarship in that area

The Steinbach Scholarship was established by private donors to recognize outstanding scholarship and scholastic achievement and to support and encourage students specializing in art history in the Department of Art and Art History. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, potential to make professional contributions to teaching and scholarship in the field of art history and financial need. Awards may be used to defray the costs of travel or other expenses associated with the pursuit of specific research projects in the field of art history.

To apply, submit a letter stating your academic goals and objectives, describing a specific research project and telling how the award would help you to pursue the project. The letter of application should be accompanied by (1) a copy of your transcript, (2) a budget for your project and (3) the names and addresses of three academic references who have agreed to provide letters on your behalf. Please ask your referees to send their letters of reference directly to:

Brian Killian & Company Endowed Scholarship
(Interior Design)
Eligibility Available to senior level undergraduate students with a declared major in Interior Design
Amount Amount varies depending on funds available
Info Student must submit a short essay naming a particular interior designer, describing that designer's style and explaining what is believed to be significant about that style.
Linda Marlene Iden Endowed Scholarship
(Fine Arts)
Eligibility Undergraduate pursuing a program in the fine arts. Evidence of accomplishment in the arts is required, and financial need is considered.
Amount $500 per academic year

Bud Bernstein Endowed Prize Fund
Eligibility Available to full-time BFA and MFA students majoring in drawing, painting, printmaking or sculpture with a minimum 3.0 gpa to assist students pursuing special or ambitious projects requiring unually high expenses for material or services needed to complete project.
